Both children and adults are invited to participate in the event and can create their own art using many elements inspired by nature. Some of the activities include a community art painting of the river by South Carolina artist Alicia Leeke. Alicia is providing paint and canvas for folks to come out and create a large painting that she sketched on canvas from her inspiration of the river.

Directions: Enter the park from the entrance located at 4122 River Drive. Continue down the dirt road to the parking area at the base of the dam then walk over the dam to the trail. Artists will be staged at the north end of Riverfront Park by the dam.

Riverfront Park opened in 1983 and was planned around the site of the world’s first electrically operated textile mill.  It is located by the city’s original waterworks and hydroelectric plant, the oldest one in the state and it is still operating. The park, which separates the Historic Columbia Canal and the Congaree River, is approximately 167 acres and is a popular jogging/walking trail that runs two and one half miles along the linear park and offers wonderful views of the river. There is also a beautiful brick amphitheater as well as a self-guided walkway by main entrance to the park.
