Artistic Furniture Makeover!
2 day workshop. Saturday and Sunday 10-4
Beginner/Intermediate class level.
Humans have been painting since pre-historic times and the Egyptians were probably the first to paint and embellish furniture. Many of the early settlers built their own furniture and passed it down to other generations. As each new generation started their home, many felt the need to have a more sophisticated décor. Embellishing furniture enables people to rework their design themes and add a personal artistic touch to their home. Paint is also used to salvage, restore and protect furniture from insects, hide water stains and other damage and make tired furniture new again.
We will be taking discarded and unwanted furniture and redesigning it into decorative objects people will cherish for years. This class is going to be work for those participating, but it’s also going to be tons of fun! It starts by exploring a little history of the decorative arts, then gets down to the nitty gritty “literally” of properly preparing a piece of furniture before applying any decoration. After that the thrill begins as students transform their into decorative objects of art that is functional and individualistic to each person!
This intensive workshop meets from 10-5 on Saturday and 12-4 on Sunday.
Class limited to 10 people. Bring your lunch.
Minimum people 4 max 10 for class
